IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said “Apple’s iPhone is now getting made in India and it’s the biggest plant in India is being set up at Hosur near Bengaluru. 60,000 people work in a single factory.”

Apple has outsourced the making of iPhone enclosures in India to Tata Electronic’s plant in Hosur. The company gets iPhones manufactured by at least three global suppliers; Foxconn and Pegatron in Tamil Nadu; and Wistron in Karnataka state.
The production of Apple iPhones a major boost to Make in India. As the country will likely go up to set its biggest manufacturing unit near Bengaluru and also provide employment to 60,000 people.

Foxconn’s plant, formally called Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, opened its plant in India in 2019 and has been ramping up production, it began producing iPhone 14 this year.
As Reuters report Foxconn is looking to expand their workforce of its plant in Southern India to 70,000 by adding 53,000 more workers. Apple’s largest supplier Foxconn is looking to quadruple its workforce, by the next two years. As its iPhone factory in India, amid supply chain disruption in China.
Apple Company Revenue and Production
A Production-Linked Incentive[PLI] was a scheme launched by the Indian Government for large scale electronics companies to boost domestic manufacturing in the country.
Apple claimed to move 5 percent of the global manufacturing demand to India by end of 2022. By making INR 47,000 Crore worth, by manufacturing the latest iPhone 14 variants in India within weeks of its global launch.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said during an earnings call in July, said that while the June quarter saw record growth in Asia Pacific and Americas, Europe, Apple’s revenue in India also nearly doubled.
