The Multinational technology company Meta appoints Sandhya Devanathan as India Head. The news of the appointment of Sandhya Devanathan as India’s Head arrives two weeks after the resignation of Mr. Ajit Mohan. A few days earlier, two high-profile posts became vacant in Meta after the resignation of the Director of Public Policy Meta and WhatsApp India Head.
Mr. Ajit Mohan announced his resignation as the Country Head on 3rd November. Surprisingly, the WhatsApp Head of India (Mr. Abhijit Bose) and the Director of Public Policy Meta also resigned few days later.
At present, Manish Chopra, the Director and Head of Partnerships for Meta is in charge of the business.
The governing laws for the big companies are tightening in India with the administration of India’s Prime Minister Modi. The appointment comes at a time when Meta is suffering from regulatory challenges.
Meta’s Chief Business officer said that he is pleased to welcome Sandhya as their new country head for India. He also spoke about the linking of Jio Mart on WhatsApp to enhance the shopping experience of customers.

Sandhya Devanathan has been working with Meta since 2016. She is a global business leader with 22 years of working experience. She had an outstanding career in the sectors of Payments, Technology and Banking. In addition to this, Sandhya Devanathan is best known for establishing businesses and teams in Singapore and Vietnam as well.
Gaming is one of the biggest verticals of Meta globally. At present, Sandhya Devanathan is leading the Gaming Vertical for the Asia Pacific Market. She will be joining the office as Meta India Head from January 1, 2023, and will report to Dan Neary, VP of Meta APAC region.

Along with responsibilities, she is also shouldered with multi-role responsibilities to create strategic partnerships with the country’s leading brands and creators.
