Zomato’s Vice President for global growth Siddharth Jhawar and also an in-charge of its recent foray into intercity food delivery service, has announced his exit from the company on late Sunday evening. He also added that he will shortly join to Tiger Global – backed ad-tech unicorn Moloco in which he will run the company’s India operations.

Inter-city food Delivery

Zomato the food delivery company, Jhawar also headed the newly launched Intercity Legends service that allows a user to order from a different city. The inter-city service’s average order value was seen to be over Rs 950 – around 2.5 times that of the company’s intra-city food deliveries. Zomato plans to expand its inter-city food delivery feature to about 5-10 cities over the next few months but not without an eye on profitability.

On any day there were repeat customers ordering food it was almost 30 percent of the users, while the average user rating is 4.3.The supply side of the inter-city service boasts of 120 restaurants from 10 cities, The foodtech giant has reportedly introduced the Zomato Pay program in fewer Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Agra, Jaipur, Chennai.

Zomato’s every inter-city order placed before 4:30 pm on a particular day is packed and ferried to a central hub of the supply-side city in the evening. It is stored in a refrigerator at 5-10 degree celsius that cools down the food and is air-transported early in the morning and delivered at the customer’s doorstep by 6 pm in the evening

At Zomato, Jhawar will be replaced by a director at Zomato-owned quick commerce company Blinkit, Kamyani Sadhwani has taken over as the head of the intercity food delivery service. Before joining Blinkit earlier this year, Sadhwani worked at Coca Cola India, Bain, Accenture and McKinsey. She is an alumna of Indian School of Business.
