Kanpur based Dr. Atul Kapoor saved his injured son’s life with the help of Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) first ever Green Corridor on Sunday, 27th November 2022.
Dr. Kapoor said that his son Abhishek Kapoor who is also a medical practitioner, had an accident which led to the damage in his spine during his family vacation in Thailand.
Dr. Abhishek Kapoor was air dropped to Delhi from Thailand in an air ambulance soon after the accident, when the doctor’s health condition was very serious. Later, he was moved by air to Amousi Airport in Lucknow.
Dr. Atul Kapoor’s injured son was rushed to their hospital, the Regency Hospital from Lucknow by road transport, soon after arriving at Amousi Airport in Lucknow.
A 75 kilometers long Green Corridor was created by the Uttar Pradesh Administration, in order to transport Dr. Abhishek to Regency Hospital situated in Kanpur on time for the emergency Spine surgery.
The distance of 75 kilometers was covered in a span of 60 minutes which normally requires two and a half hour to complete the journey. Due to which, Regency Hospital’s Owner Dr. Atul Kapoor’s injured son was moved to their hospital on the right time and the spine surgery was carried out successfully at 11 P.M...
The 75 Kilometers long green Corridor Service was possible with the help of the Administration team of 3 district of Uttar Pradesh state, which include Lucknow, Unnao and Kanpur. The Administration teams were alarmed to provide a traffic free path for the ambulance carrying injured Dr. Abhishek to the Regency Hospital safely through the Ganga barrage.
About UP’s Green Corridor
Green Corridor System is implemented concerning any Medical emergency. The facility is now widely being used in case of organ transplant cases.
The system basically works on manual power, with the help of transport department, which are falling on the route from the place the organ or the patient is present to the place where they have to be transferred safely.
The ambulance carrying the organ or the patient can avoid all the traffic signals on the way to its destination and can speed up to reach on time sooner than the actual time required to reach the particular destination amidst the traffic.
The first ever green corridor created in the state of Uttar Pradesh was on 28th August 2015 from King George’s Medical University to Amausi Airport in Lucknow, covering a distance of 18 kilometers in 22 minutes with the help of Officer Sarvesh Mishra to transport Liver tissue to The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in new Delhi for Liver transplant.
