The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) –C54 successfully took off from Satish Dhawan Space Research Centre in Sriharikota on Saturday 26th November 2022.
The rocket launch mission led by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) took place at 11.56 A.M. at the First Launchpad at Sriharikota.
The Launch vehicle On-board Earth Observation Satellite (EOS)-06 with Oceansat-3 along with eight other co-passenger Nanosatellites.
About the EOS-06 Satellite in PSLV-C54
The Earth Observation Satellite -06 is the third generation satellite in the series of the Oceansat satellite. The latest version of the Oceansat series is designed to cater continuity to the Oceansat-2 satellite.
The Earth Observation Satellite along with the eight other Nano satellites would be placed in Heliosynchronous orbits at 516 kilometers for a period of two hours.
PSLV-C54 launch vehicle’s fourth level caused the Earth Observation Satellite (EOS-06) to shoot up into an orbit of 742.7 Kilometres.
The satellite design facilitates high-resolution images to the country of Bhutan due to the presence of an ocean colour monitor, ocean surface temperature monitor, Ku- band, Scatterometer and ARGOS satellite system, which will help the country in managing the natural resources.
The launch mission marks India’s effort to back the King of Bhutan’s plan to apply advanced engineering including space technology and ITC Infotech technologies for the betterment of the country which also facilitates India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy.
Satellites in PSLV- C54
The Earth’s Observation satellite is designed by ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Centre, and the other satellites placed in the PSLV launch vehicle include ISRO’s Nano-Satellite -2 for Bhutan (INS-2B), the country’s first private earth observation satellite Anand designed by Pixxel, Bengaluru based Space Company, four Astrocast Satellites designed by America based Spaceflight and two Trybolt Satellites by Dhruva Space Company.
As per the statements from ISRO, with the 56th spaceflight of the PSLV-C54 launch vehicle, the current mission marks the end for this year.
Missions Undertaken by ISRO using PSLV Space vehicle
The first one was PSLV-C52/DS-EO mission scheduled on 14th February 2022 which carried Earth Observation Satellite -04 administered at heliosyncronous orbit at 529 kilometers.
The second mission was PSLV-C53/ DS-EO scheduled on 29th June 2022. the mission was the second dedicated project of NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).
The launch vehicle boarded the DS-EO satellite along with two Singapore based Co-passengers.
The Bengaluru –based Space Research organisationorganization of the country had two other missions this year using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle for Spaceflight.
